Don’t put batteries in the bin, recycle them for Laura Lynn – SVDP Girls School Launch Battery Collection Campaign today!

Don’t put batteries in the bin, recycle them for Laura Lynn – SVDP Girls School Launch Battery Collection Campaign today!

Last year, due to our fantastic effort, St. Vincent de Paul Girls School became the overall Dublin prize winner of the WEEE Pledge Initiative for 2016/2017.  We collected 45 full boxes of batteries for WEEE Ireland that time.  Not only was this superb for our planet but we also helped the wonderful Laura Lynn Foundation as a donation is made by WEEE Ireland for each box we filled!  We followed this last year with a further 22 boxes collected in January 2018 and another 8 boxes filled before the end of the school year.  What an amazing effort by the girls in our school.

Of course, we would like to continue this campaign and therefore today marks the start of a new special challenge for every class in the school. It’s a race for the month of September to fill as many boxes as possible. The classes will compete against each other to collect as many batteries as possible and to fill as many boxes as possible.   I wonder who will win.

Each class has been given a special battery recycling box from WEEE IRELAND.  If there are any used batteries lying around at home send them in.  We will keep you posted on battery collection progress as the month progresses.

Good luck everyone!
