September and October in Room 24!

September and October have been two very busy and exciting months for Room 24!

On the 20th of September, the girls took to the streets to take part in the Strike for Climate Change. We decorated banners and chanted as we marched along Griffith Avenue. On the 22nd of October, we were very lucky to be invited into Eason’s on O’Connell Street to meet Sarah Webb and learn about her new book ‘Blazing a Trail’. Sarah told the girls about her life as an author and the girls got an opportunity to take part in various dramas involving different Irish women who have helped change the world. On the 23rd of October, we visited Casino Marino. We learned all about the history of the building and the inspirations for its architectural design. The girls thoroughly enjoyed this visit! On the 24th of October, the mobile planetarium visited the school. We had been learning all about the Earth, the Sun and our solar system in class and so the girls loved seeing how scientists are constantly working to discover more about outer space. Finally, on the 25th of October, we had the great pleasure of getting to see the Sam Maguire Cup and the Brendan Martin Cup. Brian Howard from the Dublin Men’s team and Niamh Hetherton from the Dublin Ladies team came to visit with the cups.

Take a look at a few of the highlights from our first two months in 5th class!
