September in Rm 19

September in Rm 19

We had such a lovely time playing games to re-cap on what the girls had learned this month.

The girls challenged themselves by engaging in a ‘Connect Four Multiplying Decimals’ Maths Game to practise their maths skills! Girls, you are such excellent Mathematicians!

We played a board game as Gaeilge in our pods. We practised our Gaeilge language skills on ‘Mé Féin’ and ‘Mo Theaglach’. The game involved the players moving their counters around the board game, discussing the various questions and topics on which they landed! It was a great way to practise all the new vocabulary we learned this month! We also used our origami skills to revise these topics too!!

We are having such fun with our 2nd Class buddies! We celebrated European Schools Sports Day by getting active!

We did a ‘Senses Walk’ and also made Ogham stones with our buddies names and our names!!

We had a super time in Science this month. We were learning all about our ‘pulse’. We found our own pulse and investigated why we have a pulse. We investigated how exercise affected our heart rate.

The girls had so much fun completing a Communication Challenge! They were required to plan a 3D sculpture out of tin foil and pipe cleaners in their pods. The girls had only fifteen minutes to plan their sculpture. After the planning collaboration,  the girls were allowed to only use gestures to communicate!! It was so much fun! Well done, girls! Your sculptures look amazing!

The girls thoroughly enjoyed a draw-along art lesson as Gaeilge to mark ‘Culture Night’. Bhí na pictiúir go hálainn ar fad!

We had a fantastic time engaging in a virtual interview with the famous author, David Walliams. He had such fantastic tips for all the talented writers in our room! He even read us passages from his books!

We have been learning all about Early Christian Ireland in History this month. The children completed a model of a monastery in their pods. Look at these amazing pictures!!!
